Our founder, Joey, was a couple of years into his first full-time job when he realized something disheartening: he'd been stuck in a cooking rut, cooking the same handful of meals on repeat. The more he talked to people about this problem, the more he realized that practically everyone he knew had the same issue. Cooking was boring, and there was no option that was affordable, easy, and versatile. All the while, cooking should be a joyful discovery of new flavors, not a chore.

Joey's culinary background led him on the journey that became Savor Spice Club. He had managed a gourmet restaurant under the tutelage of a nationally renowned chef, and through a pro-bono consulting organization at the University of Virginia, he spent over three years working with the owners of an artisan bakery and an authentic Caribbean restaurant. Of all the things he learned, one lesson was clear: the secret to giving dishes their distinctive flavor was in the unique spices they used.

That was the "aha" moment: that using new spices was the simplest way to transform meals with exciting, new, international flavors. The rest is history. We began sourcing authentic spices from merchants across the world and sharing them with friends and family. Now, Savor Spice Club is a full team effort, and our small but mighty team works to continue sharing the amazing flavors of global cuisines.
